Management Concentration

Are you looking to make your mark in the business world? This program will give you the tools to excel as a leader, decision maker, and problem solver. You’ll learn best practices in the many sides of business administration, including finance, marketing, business operations, and creating effective business policies. These courses are tailored for professionals looking to take on more responsibility in higher-level positions, or for students who are new to the business world, but eager to move up quickly.

Criminal Justice Concentration

You will develop the required skills to think through the ethical issues that criminal justice organizations deal with, and learn about the effective management styles and leadership traits. The Criminal Justice Major includes an overview of the criminal justice system including its three basic components: the police, courts and corrections. Criminological theory and research examine criminal behavior and crime causation. The combination of criminal justice coursework and hands-on learning through internships prepares students for careers in law enforcement, the law or corrections or to purse graduate and professional education.

Students completing a major in criminal justice will:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the criminal justice system including core components of the police, the courts and corrections.
  • Explicate crime and criminal behavior by examining criminological theories of crime causation.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills by analyzing and discussing criminal just issues; through internships.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of research skills by writing scholarly papers on criminal justice topics.

Human Services Concentration

For developing skills required to effectively manage in the complex and dynamic environment that characterizes today’s human service sector, including program planning and development, fiscal management and evaluation, and organizational development.

Many people who work in not-for-profit and social services, including clinical practitioners, often find themselves moving up quickly into supervisor, management, and even executive positions. This program prepares you for management positions in nonprofit or public agencies. The program focuses on the skills required to effectively manage in the complex and dynamic environment that characterizes today’s human service sector, including program planning and development, fiscal management and evaluation, and organizational development.
